BUYING GUIDE
How buying works
Buying a metal off-cut on 2ndMetal works like buying any listed product: every piece is on the site with its real dimensions, declared grade and a visible price. You buy it outright, make an offer, or ask for cutting — and we deliver it or hold it for collection. There is no call-for-price step and no minimum order.
Every piece is listed individually
Surplus metal is one-of-a-kind by nature — a 12 mm plate remnant of 1,450 × 2,800 mm exists once. So the marketplace lists pieces, not product codes: each listing carries the declared grade, the measured dimensions, the theoretical weight, photos of the actual material and its price. What you see on the listing is the piece that arrives.
Because stock is genuinely finite, every listing is subject to prior sale. If two buyers want the same plate, the first completed checkout gets it — the second sees it marked as sold, not silently reassigned to different material.
Prices are visible — and negotiable
Every listing shows its price in AED. Prices are stated exclusive of VAT, which is added at checkout and shown on your document before you commit.
If the listed price doesn't work for your job, make an offer from the listing page. Offers go to a human coordinator, not an algorithm — a real person reviews the number, checks the material's position, and comes back with an answer or a counter. Nothing is auto-accepted, which also means a serious offer gets a serious reply.
Three ways to buy
Buy Now: for per-piece and per-lot listings, checkout is immediate — pick delivery or collection, pay by bank transfer, and the piece is reserved for you the moment the order is placed.
Make an offer: name your price and any conditions. The conversation stays on the platform and converts into a normal order when agreed.
Request cutting: if you need a smaller size out of a listed piece, ask for it cut. You approve the final cutting instruction before any torch or saw touches the material — see the cut-to-size guide for how that works.
Delivery, collection and documents
Delivery is quoted per order based on weight and length, and runs across the UAE. Some material sells from transit locations for collection — those orders get a release code you present at handover.
Every order produces proper paperwork: a quotation while payment is pending, a tax invoice once paid, and a delivery note with the goods. Companies can register their details for invoices in the company name — see the company buying guide.
Common questions
Is there a minimum order?
No. A single off-cut is a normal order. Listings state a minimum order quantity only where the seller set one, and it is shown on the listing itself.
Can I see the material before buying?
Every listing carries photos of the actual piece, its measured dimensions and declared grade. For certified material, the mill test certificate is released with your order once it is confirmed.
What if the piece is sold while I'm deciding?
Listings are subject to prior sale — the first completed checkout wins. If you miss a piece, post the spec on Material Wanted and you'll be alerted when matching material lands.
Who am I actually buying from?
From 2ndMetal, operated by HIRZ General Trading LLC. We are the merchant of record: we invoice you, we deliver, and we stand behind the material as described.
