METALS · ALUMINIUM
Aluminium off-cuts are surplus plate, sheet and sections in the common 5xxx and 6xxx series alloys — a third the weight of steel, naturally corrosion-resistant, and easy to machine. Each piece here is listed with verified dimensions and a per-piece price.
Stock turns over piece by piece — what's listed is what exists. Post the spec you need and we match it against incoming material; you're alerted the moment something lands.
The marine trades reach for 5083 and 5052; structural and machining work runs on 6061 and 6082, usually in T6 temper. Aluminium's oxide layer protects it without paint, which is why boat builders, signmakers and fit-out contractors use it so heavily in the Gulf climate.
Full sheets are awkward to buy for small jobs — suppliers want volume, and freight on light material is unforgiving. An off-cut close to your finished size solves both problems. Weights are calculated from the section; at 2,700 kg/m³, even a large piece stays a one-person lift more often than you'd expect.
Common grades in this family: 1050 · 5052 · 5083 · 6061 · 6082
5083 is the standard for hulls and structural marine work; 5052 covers tanks, trim and lighter fabrication. Both are saltwater-tolerant without coating.
The 5xxx and 6xxx series weld well with TIG or MIG and the right filler wire. Note that welding locally softens T6-tempered material in the heat-affected zone — normal, but worth designing around.
The listing states the declared grade, and pieces with a mill certificate carry an MTC badge. Where markings are visible on the metal, the photos show them.
