Titanium off-cuts

Titanium delivers steel-class strength at a little over half the weight — 4,510 kg/m³ against steel's 7,850 — with seawater corrosion resistance that outlasts almost everything else. Grade 2 (commercially pure) and Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) cover most industrial use, and certified surplus pieces are the practical way to buy small quantities.

Grade 2 is the corrosion specialist: commercially pure, easy to form and weld, essentially immune to seawater — which is why desalination and offshore work specify it. Grade 5 adds aluminium and vanadium for roughly three times the strength, taking over wherever load matters: shafts, fasteners, aerospace and high-end mechanical parts.

Mill titanium comes with aerospace-style minimums and lead times, so a certified off-cut already in the UAE is often the only sensible route for a repair or a one-off component. Titanium is hard to identify by eye — buy against the declared grade and the mill certificate, not the look of the metal.

Common questions

Grade 2 or Grade 5 — how do I choose?

Grade 2 for corrosion service where loads are modest: tanks, piping, heat exchangers, seawater systems. Grade 5 when strength drives the design: shafts, fasteners, structural and aerospace parts. Grade 5 is roughly three times stronger; Grade 2 is easier to form and weld.

Why does titanium surplus exist in the UAE?

Desalination, offshore and aerospace-adjacent projects order certified titanium against project scope, and descoped or over-ordered material lands with the region's fabricators. That surplus is what gets listed here.

How do I know a piece is really the grade claimed?

Through the mill certificate — titanium grades are indistinguishable by eye. Listings with the MTC badge release the EN 10204 certificate once your order is confirmed, with heat numbers to match against the piece.
